When was Mary Ann Hawley Born?

In the 1880 census, Mary "Ann" Hawley is list as the daughter of William Hawley, age 5, born approximately 1875. The family is living in Wilson, Alpena, Michigan. My assumption has always been that Mary Ann Hawley was the third child, second daughter, of William Hawley and Sarah Anne Healy.

I have found a baptismal record for Mary Ann Holey, born on April 11, 1875, and baptized on December 10, 1875, at St. Bernards Church in Alpena, Michigan.

At this point, you may be wondering why I am even questioning the birth of Mary Ann Hawley. Based on the information already presented, it seems obvious.

On December 20, 1894, the death of Mary Hawley is recorded in Hillman, Montmorency, Michigan. She is listed as 17 years and 20 days old at the time of her death. This would mean that she was born on November 30, 1877.  William, Sarah, and their family were living in Montmorency County, Michigan around 1894. I have to admit, I thought so as well. However, I then found the following two pieces of information, which made me doubt my conclusion.
Mary Hawley Death Certificate - 12/30/1894
This is a contradiction with the 1880 census and baptism record previously found.
On June 3, 1900, William and Sarah Hawley are enumerated on the 1900 census in Rust Township, Montmorency, Michigan. Sarah is listed as having 9 children, 5 of which are living. By my record, William and Sarah had 7 children and by 1900, 5 of the children are still living: William, Edward, George, Sarah (Sadie) and Lavina.

My assumptions are that Ellen died sometime before June 3, 1900 (no records found) and that Mary died on December 30, 1894. That would account for 7 children.

I typically like to end my blog posts with a conclusion and lessons learned. However, this time, I will end with a few questions instead. Maybe someone else can help me with the conclusion and lesson this time.
  1. When was Mary Ann Hawley born? 1875 or 1877?
  2. Did Mary die on December 39, 1894, in Hillman, Montmorency, Michigan?
  3. If my assumptions, regarding William and Sarah's children, are correct, where are the other 2 children? Where there 2 more children or was the census incorrect?
  4. Were their two daughters by the name of Mary born to the William Hawley family?
  5. If it wasn't Mary (born in 1875) that died in 1894, then when and where did Mary Hawley die?
