  Married: The legal age of consent to get married in the state of Washington was 17 with parental consent and 18 without parental consent. Although both Olive and Alice were living in Pullman, Whitman County, Washington, Alice was not yet 16 and therefore unable to get married in Washington. They drove about 20 miles away across the Idaho state line, where she was able to get married, with parental consent at the age of 16.
