- Capac dies from injuries in two-vehicle crash -- Thursday, May 28 2009
(CASCO TOWNSHIP) -- A 77-year old Capac woman was killed as a result of a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on Marine City Highway. According to St. Clair County Sheriff's deputies, the vehicle driven by the victim, Helen Hawley, was seen crossing over the fog line onto the shoulder three times before making a U-turn directly into the path of a dump truck hauling a trailer. The car struck the driver's side door causing the dump truck to spin and jackknife the trailer. The driver of the truck, 58-year old Raymond Anglin of Marine City was treated at the scene. Hawley was transported to Mt. Clemens General Hospital where she passed away from her injuries Thursday morning.

- Capac woman dies from crash injuries (May 28, 2009)
A 77-year-old Capac woman died this morning from injuries sustained in a crash Wednesday in Casco Township, St. Clair County Sheriff Department spokesman Deputy Steve Campau said in a press release. Helen Irene Hawley was heading westbound on Marine City Highway at about 3 p.m. when she made a U-turn into the path of a dump truck hauling a trailer. The truck struck her vehicle's driver side door, then spun out and jackknifed the trailer. Witnesses reported seeing Hawley's vehicle cross the fog line and go onto the shoulder of the road at least three times, the third time just before making the U-turn. Skid marks on the road indicated that truck driver Raymond Earl Anglin, 58, of Marine City, had locked his brakes trying to stop his truck before the impact, according to the release. Anglin was treated at the scene and released. Ira Township EMS transported Hawley to Mt. Clemens Regional Medical Center, where she died this morning. Ira Township Rescue also responded to the scene of the crash.
